That are three completely different elite-specs. 1.) Strongest: Firebrand. Strongest because its ridiculously flat learning curve, high performance output and the fact that almost all variations use the same weapons and rotations. It deals very good damage and offers great support-options - both in combination. 2.)
Specializations . Warriors have five core specializations, and three elite specializations: Core Strength — Focuses on dodging, physical (utility) skills and brute force. Enhances greatsword and physical skills. Arms — Focused on critical hits and condition damage. Enhances sword and signet skills, as well as dual-wielding (i.e. off-hand).
The upside however is that you can equip the Elite Specialization even if it isn't fully trained, in order to access the new mechanics and weapon. You need 90 HP to learn finish the first "Line" of traits, which is a total of 9 Hero Challenges in the Desert area which should be doable.
> This expansion will introduce Weaponmaster Training, which turns the elite specialization weapons already associated with each profession into core proficiencies. Once you’ve unlocked Weaponmaster Training in Guild Wars 2: Secrets of the Obscure , you’ll be able to use elite specialization weapons without the corresponding trait line

Get caltrops and uncatchable. Enemies tend to die rather easy. It bring something new to thief and is strong but in my opinion is the least fun of all the eod spec because of how clunky it is :/ just spam 3 and the shroud is only here to wait for your initiative to come back. Shroud also heavily boosts sustain.

But OP asked for tips before they manage to reach that point in the game. Additionally, sword damage isn't bad at all for core game purposes.
The Willbender is the End of Dragons Elite Specialization for the Guardian. The Willbender replaces your virtues with the Willbender Flames. This turns the slow moving, supportive guardian into a very self centered soldier. Less defense, more offense! Willbender vs. Firebrand vs. Dragonhunter vs. Core Guardian.

Certainly far more trivial than navigating HoT or PoF maps without having already obtained like gliding or mount masteries. An elite spec requires 250 HP, of which you can fulfill 200 just through core HP alone. That would leave you only needing 5 of the HP from any of the HoT or PoF maps. 3. whenfirecomes.
